Overweight: not just an aesthetic issue, ask your liver

26th August 2020

Antico Caffè San Marco, Trieste

Overweight: not just an aesthetic issue, ask to your liver.

One of the main challenges for the national health system is represented by the increase in cases of overweight and obesity, often at the origin of chronic liver diseases such as the so-called “fatty liver”, more correctly defined as “non-alcoholic liver steatosis”.

But how to deal with this syndrome since a drug treatment is not yet available?

During the meeting, researchers and experts on liver health issues from Fondazione Italiana Fegato and University of Trieste will answer questions from the public, who will be at the centre of the dialogue with their doubts and curiosities. But ample space will also be dedicated to the preventive measures that we can put in place, first of all a healthier lifestyle.

Choosing a healthy diet and a dynamic and active life are, in fact, the basis of a lifestyle that allows us to safeguard our liver. The emphasis will therefore be on the importance of prevention, as the only currently effective approach to avoid developing a “fatty liver”.
