Blueblitz and Plastics at sea: the events at the Marine Protected Area of Miramare

During the months of August and September, on the occasion of Science in the City Festival, WWF and ARPA FVG organize a series of events on the topic of marine environmental protection at the Marine Protected Area of Miramare.

Every Sunday of August and the first Sunday of September, at 3.00 pm, Blueblitz will take place: a series of snorkelling excursions guided by the WWF’s experts. Everyone can go and discover the animals that inhabit the marine reserve. The activity will involve a scientific monitoring and visual census using underwater cards for species recognition.

Every Sunday from the 22nd of August to the 12th of September included, at 4.30 pm, kids and their families will find Plastics at sea, a series of cleaning and waste census activities at the beache of the Marine Protected Area, guided by an ARPA technician. Partecipants will then use a microscope to analyse the microplastics and microfibers and learn about their impact on marine wildlife. Guided tours of the BioMa (the Immersive Museum of Miramare Protected Area) and creative workshop for the recovery of plastic materials (in collaboration with the Picknitartcafe Association of Trieste) will also be organized.

It’s mandatory to book activities by contacting WWF Area Marina Protetta di Miramare at 040 224147 int.3 (Mon-Fri: 10.00 am-1.00 pm) or sending an email at info@riservamarinamiramare.it. For further information please visit http://www.riservamarinamiramare.it/
