To infinity and beyond: Sailing solo on the seas of the world

Sailing alone circumnavigating the world in complete energy and food self-sufficiency: this is the challenge that Matteo Miceli, world-renowned sailor, faced for 145 days from October 2014 to March 2015. Miceli himself will describe this adventure during the conference on 22nd September from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm at the Magazzino delle Idee in Trieste.

Launched in 2009 with the title Rome Ocean World, this challenge combined sport and science to raise public awareness on sustainability issues. A concrete “bio-utopia”, through which Matteo Miceli, profound connoisseur of the alterations caused to the seas by climate change, set out to demonstrate that it is possible to navigate in respect of man and the environment. Co-star of this adventure was Eco40, an eco-sustainable Class40 sailboat.

The conference, moderated by Michele Maris, is part of the series of meetings related to the XTREME exhibition: living in extreme environments, scheduled until 11th October 2020 at the Warehouse of Ideas.
